(Reuters) - One of two suspected white supremacists wanted for questioning in connection with the killing of Colorado's prison chief, Tom Clements, has been arrested, authorities said on Friday.
"Colorado Springs officers made the arrest of James Lohr," said El Paso County Sheriff's Office spokesman Lieutenant Jeff Kramer.
Lohr, 47, and another suspected white supremacist identified as Thomas James Guolee, 31, who remains a fugitive, were wanted on warrants unrelated to the shooting death of Clements last month as he answered the door to his home. Police described the two as "persons of interest" but not suspects in the investigation.
"They were aware that (Lohr) was a person of interest for us," said Kramer, who didn't have any details regarding the arrest.
"We have custody of him now," Kramer said.
He said both men were confirmed members of the 211 Crew, the same white supremacist prison-based gang that former convict Evan Spencer Ebel, blamed for gunning down Clements, belonged to.
Ebel died in a roadside gun battle with police in Texas on March 21 after a highway chase.
"They knew each other. They were associates of one another," said Kramer, referring to Lohr and Ebel.
"We know that Mr. Lohr had at least recent contact with Mr. Ebel, prior to the homicide of Mr. Clements," he said.
